The deprivation from social interaction and emotional communication for whatever reason may lead to negative reactions and emotions. The infant misses the opportunity of well organized and meaningful experiences, which are shaping the world around him/her.
In a safe setting, the special use of sound and music by a supportive therapist, can provide affective contact and emotional security for children with limited capacity of social interaction, and create an environment of full attention, coordination and autonomous intersubjective engagement.

Musical Movement/Our mission

"Musical Movement” constitutes a non profit organization of early intervention, based on the therapeutic use of music. It was founded in Athens in 2007.

"Musical Movement” seeks to help infants and children aged 1 to 6 years that grow up under unfavorable conditions and provide them with confidence and the strength needed, in order to develop normally.

The aim of “Musical Movement” is to locate these children and intervene therapeutically as soon as possible. Central to our function, is the emotional care of the psychologically burdened infant and child, through the connection and engagement to music, and the relationship with people that realize their primary needs.

Our intention is to avoid the crystallization of dysfunctional patterns of behavior and emotional states that hinder their cognitive, physical and emotional growth.

At the same time “Musical Movement” supports the mother’s role and the family and promotes briefing and sensitization of public awareness concerning healthy infant and child development.

Finally, our foundation gives great importance to the promotion of public awareness concerning the implications of the maltreatment of the infant and child that may have serious social consequences, like alienation, poverty, drugs, crime, withdrawal and depression.

"Musical Movement” addresses the needs of infants and children with:

  • Emotional and behavioral disturbances, due to insufficient response of their environment to their physical and emotional needs (abuse, trauma, parental psychopathology, parental absence, child poverty).
  • Autism.
  • Other developmental disorders.
